X set to launch financial ecosystem

X (formerly Twitter), under the leadership of Elon Musk, is preparing to take a major step into the world of digital finance. As part of Musk’s broader vision to transform X into a super app, the platform is expected to offer money transfers, investment capabilities, and financial management tools as early as 2025.

During an interview with Financial Times at the Cannes Lions festival, X CEO Linda Yaccarino revealed that users will soon be able to manage their entire financial lives through the platform. These upcoming features aim to go far beyond social networking, creating a space where users can make payments, invest, and conduct commerce—all within X.

“You’ll come to X to manage your entire financial world. From paying for a pizza to making investments or running a business—it’s all possible. That’s the future,” said Yaccarino.

Introducing X Money: A New Era of Digital Payments
Inspired by China’s WeChat, which serves over 1.3 billion users with integrated communication and financial tools, X plans to roll out its own financial services under the name “X Money.” Developed in partnership with Visa, this digital wallet will allow users to:

Send and receive money,

Store a balance on the platform,

Make purchases directly through X,

Tip content creators seamlessly.

The new features are expected to debut in the United States, with plans to expand globally over time. In addition, the company is considering launching debit and credit cards that would work directly with the platform’s services.

Merging Finance and Social Media in One Platform
Yaccarino emphasized that a brand-new financial and commercial ecosystem is about to emerge within X. This move will position the platform as more than just a social media app—it will become a multifunctional tool for digital payments, e-commerce, content monetization, and investments.

With the upcoming launch of X Money, Elon Musk’s platform is poised to challenge both traditional fintech services and existing super apps, redefining how users interact with their finances online.
