Taiwan-based tech giant Foxconn is reportedly gearing up to introduce humanoid robots at Nvidia’s upcoming semiconductor manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas. According to sources close to the company, the decision is expected to be finalized in the coming months.
This move would mark a significant milestone for both Foxconn and Nvidia: it would be the first time Nvidia’s AI chips are produced with the help of humanoid robots, and also the first time Foxconn integrates such robots into its semiconductor production line.
Foxconn is not only co-developing its own humanoid robots in collaboration with Nvidia, but also testing existing models manufactured by China-based UBTech. However, details regarding which robot models will be deployed, what they will look like, or how many units will be installed have not yet been disclosed.
In a presentation held in May, Foxconn demonstrated that its robots are being trained for key factory tasks such as object handling, cable installation, and assembly line operations. One insider noted that the Houston facility offers significantly more space compared to Foxconn’s other manufacturing sites, making it an ideal environment for deploying humanoid robots.
The same source also revealed that Foxconn plans to unveil two different humanoid robot models at its annual tech event scheduled for November. The event is expected to serve as a showcase for Foxconn’s growing ambitions in the field of robotics and AI-driven manufacturing.
